April Wells, Head Coach

 

April graduated from Annandale High School in 1998 and went on to complete her bachelor degree at Virginia Tech.  April began cheering at age 6 in little league and continued through adulthood.  As a student at Annandale she spent 5 seasons on the varsity team.  She served as varsity captain for 3 seasons, earned a bid to Nationals, 2 bids to regional competition, earned the Michelle Cox Award and was named an NCA All American twice.  After college April came back to Annandale to coach the freshman cheerleading team for one season before moving up to head cheer coach.  She continued her own cheerleading career after college with All-Star Legacy where her team earned two first place finishes. 

 

Coach Wells’ has served as the head cheer coach for ten seasons at Annandale High School.  She is very excited about the growth of the program as well as the athletes and looks forward to further improvement. 

 

Coach Wells has been a member of the Northern Virginia Region Cheer Coaches Association since 2002.  She is also a National Federation State High School Association Silver level member.  She has been certified by AACCA National Safety Program, NCA, and Fairfax County and is CPR/First Aid certified for infants, children, and adults.

Meghan Draper, Asst. Varsity Coach

Meghan graduated from Homer Center HS in Pennsylvania in 2002.   She graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 2006, majoring in Elementary/Special Education with a minor in Psychology.  Meghan began cheerleading when she was 13. She cheered on the freshman team for three years and she then spent three years on varsity.  Meghan also cheered for the Evergreen All-Star squad.  Cheerleading for both squads gave Meghan the opportunity to experience the National cheerleading competition in Florida multiple years in a row.  Meghan started her coaching career in Pennsylvania with the Bethlehem Center Tiny Mites.  She moved to coaching the Toxic All-Star Cheer squad her senior year of college. 

Upon graduation, Meghan moved to Annandale to become a Special Education Teacher.  This is when she continued her coaching experience with the Annandale Varsity Cheerleaders.

Sara Brandenstein, Junior Varsity Coach

Sara Bradenstein graduated from W.T. Woodson HS in 2004 and is in the process of completing her degree at George Mason University.   Sara began cheering when she was 14 on the JV team at Woodson HS, then spent five seasons on varsity and captured the title of MVP her senior year as well as captain.  Sara’s cheerleading experience didn’t end there; she also competed with the nationally ranked Capital Cheer Jags for two years, winning 4 national competitions. 

Sara plans to join the Nothern Region Cheer Coaches Association in the fall as well as complete her AACCA training.

Coach Bradenstein has helped with tryouts at Annandale for 2 years and is thrilled to finally have the opportunity to coach the JV team.

Stacey Hampton, Freshman Coach

Stacey Hampton is a former Annandale High School alumnus who graduated in 2005. She has cheered for a total of 6 years. Coach Hampton has coached freshman cheerleading at Annandale for two years. While she was a student at Annandale she cheered all four years. Coach Hampton was a captain on the varsity squad as well as a Patriot District cheerleader in 2005. She also cheered on a competitive all-star squad, Springfield Thunder, in 2005. Currently Coach Hampton attends Marymount University where she has cheered for two years. Stacey is also currently cheering with the All Star Legacy Large Co-ed Pro Team.

Coach Hampton has been a member of the Northern Region Cheer Coaches Association since 2005. She is also a National Federation State High School Association Bronze level member. She has been certified by the AACCA National Safety Program, NCA, and Fairfax County.

Tatiana Chandee, Freshman Coach

Tatiana Chandee graduated from Annandale High School in 2005. She has been cheering for 6 years. Tatiana started her cheerleading career competing with RAH! Extreme All-Star Cheerleading, winning multiple national titles. She cheered with the Annandale Atoms on the JV team for one year and the Varsity team for two years. She was named a CTC All-American Cheerleader in the 2004-2005 cheerleading season. Winter 07-08 was her fourth season of coaching at Annandale. Tatiana currently cheers with the All Star Legacy Large Co-ed Pro Team.

Coach Chandee has been a member of the Northern Region Cheer Coaches Association since 2005. She is also a National Federation State High School Association Bronze level member. She has been certified by the AACCA National Safety Program, NCA, and Fairfax County.
